I’m Robyn, the creator of Cook&Curry. Here is A little story of how we got here. Cook&Curry began long before me – it has come from generations of family cooking, across the Caribbean and to the UK.
Most of my childhood was spent on the kitchen counter as my mum cooked, snacking on the ingredients, trying new foods and learning recipes that she grew up with. It was a safe space and my creative outlet as a young adult figuring out my next steps.
I went on to study food and nutrition where experimentation and recipe testing became even more exciting – I could do experiments and make great food?! This idea was always on the cards, but we eventually found its name: Cook&Curry. It comes from the saying “everything cook and curry!” meaning “everything is just fine”.
We knew that’s what we wanted – something laid back, fun, and just like sharing food with friends and family. There were a few trials along the way. In 2025, I found out that I’m Coeliac, so I can’t eat gluten. I had to change the way I cook and eat – but I love a challenge, and saw an opportunity to make amazing gluten free Caribbean food! Caribbean food is in my soul, it makes me feel at home.
It reminds me of the stories of ‘back home' and how the community came over to the UK, which were always shared over food, drinks and music. I’m so proud of my heritage and our amazing culture, and with Cook&Curry, I want to bring people into that warm space and share the food we grew up with. Not just what is expected of Caribbean food but food from all the islands, to say thanks for all they’ve done for us.
xoxo
